Let us share with you a getaway for locals, a true hidden gem – Ravdoucha beach. Located 20 km and 30 minutes drive away from Platanias, this picturesque beach is the perfect example of how beautiful and wild the nature of Crete can be.
Arriving in the village of Ravdoucha, you would start descending towards the sea after passing a typical Greek island white-and-blue church. Though the road may seem a bit scary for travellers, the panoramic view opening from this point can compete with the famed Santorini landscapes!
Once at the bottom of the hill, continue heading to the left side of the bay for the dramatic cliffs of Ravdoucha. This pebbled beach is a campsite for hippies and yoga retreat for people in search of their zen 😌 While the pebbles can be quite slippery and grabbing your rubber sandals may be a good idea, the little bay has crystal clear waters, perfect for snorkelling and underwater exploration!
After a refreshing swim, you may go for a stroll along the shore to discover a tiny chapel built into a rocky hill or head straight to a family taverna right next to the beach. Just as you thought to yourself that this day couldn’t get better, fresh fish & massive Cretan salad over a glass of chilled white wine will challenge this thought!
